About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah and I'm a Chicago-based journalist covering the environment and public health in Chicagoland and the Midwest. In 2025, I graduated with a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University Medill, specializing in Health, Environment and Science reporting. I'm currently a reporting fellow at Inside Climate News covering how climate change and federal policy impacts cities and communities in the Midwest, with a passion for investigating the nexus of public health with those topics. I've also reported in Puerto Rico covering small community water issues, check out some photos of my time there below!
Prior to attending Northwestern I worked in Washington, D.C. as a federal policy reporter at Inside Washington Publishers covering environmental policy and labor regulation, tracking legislative bills and court cases around the country. I wrote for a specialized audience of industry groups, legal professionals, advocacy organizations and lawmakers. I graduated from American University graduating in May 2023, majoring in Journalism and minoring Spanish and Creative Writing, having received a translation certificate.
I've also interned as the Washington Correspondent at The Durango Herald, worked in daily news at NBC4 Washington and interned at Fundación PorCausa, an investigative publication in Madrid, Spain, where I reported entirely in Spanish.
